When final agreement had been reached the chapters of the original volume were submitted to the editor in preliminary form to allow him maximum freedom in achieving a relative uniformity of style. In the previous and present revision process the editor was granted authorization by the writers to undertake any revisions he Page 12 considered necessary. The original writers were not involved in the revision process except in the reading of certain sections of the new manuscript. Appreciation is expressed here for this fraternal act of trust and cooperation.

It seems likely that Grebel and Mantz found support in Karlstadt against infant baptism, which the latter had already abandoned in Germany in 1523, though he did not rebaptize those who had received infant baptism. He gave Mantz a treatise on baptism for publication which, however, Mantz was unable to get printed. In their September letter to Müntzer, Grebel and Mantz also commented favorably on his (Müntzer's) views of baptism and elaborated on their own understanding, including the importance of discipline according to the Rule of Christ in Matthew 18:1518 which, it appears, they may also have learned from Karlstadt.
